David is an entrepreneur and investor with a 25 year-long track record of innovation and investment in residential property, infrastructure and unquoted equity investments.
He founded Mill Group in 1994 to create, incubate, manage and advise on real assets investment projects. As CEO, he managed in excess of £1 billion of underlying assets, mainly held in the Investors in the Community fund which Mill promoted and managed. The fund was successful in investing in over 30 Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deals to create much-needed schools, health facilities, housing and other infrastructure assets across the UK.
In 2014, Mill Group formed the Oak Consortium partnership with Bovis Homes and HCA (now Homes England) to acquire 200 homes for rental in six locations across the UK. In 2018, over a 100 of these homes in Bristol, Gloucester and Hampshire were sold to housing specialist, Annington. The remaining residential investment portfolio continues to be managed by Mill under David’s leadership, with property and lettings managed by Touchstone.
In recent years, David has evolved Mill’s business to create innovative residential property projects, namely Vesta Property, Abode Impact and HOP Homes.
Investment has also been made in Green Energy Sustainable Solutions and its investment company, Free Green Electricity, who provide solar energy solutions market for commercial properties.
David began his journey in property when he started working at Terrace Hill, a property development and investment company in 1988, which was later bought and merged with the established property developer, Urban & Civic.
As a trained Chartered Accountant, he previously worked with Arthur Andersen, Natwest Investment Bank and Compturon, a European software sales and support company that he set up for the US parent.
